Background & Evolution
“Generosity consists not of the sum given, but the manner in
which it is bestowed.”
Established in 1989 in the foothills of Alagar Malai Karanthamalai hills of eastern Ghate Tamilnadu India, SAADOW (Social Awareness and Development Organisation for Women) began as a grassroots collective of women and children in the remote villages of Natham/ Vellalapatti. Over the past 35 years, it has evolved into a premier multi-sectoral development organization based in Natham, Tamil Nadu. We have dedicated decades to bridging the gap between social justice Conservation and environmental stewardship, transforming from a local support group into a globally recognized entity.
To strive for people-led initiatives and interventions by empowering marginal communities and families to secure sustainable lives, livelihoods, and climate justice.
To establish a society where downtrodden communities live in peace and walk hand-in-hand within sustainable villages, living with dignity and their heads held high.
